A report in the workshop
Something does not work, or you have an idea? Write it down in the workshop. Every report gets an answer, and everyone can see what comes of it.
Before you start
You need a KIplatz account. It is the same one as in the forum and in the program, and you can create it in a few minutes. How that works is explained under Create an account and sign in.
The workshop is at werkstatt.kiplatz.at, and the project for all reports is called KIplatz/mitbauen. Anyone can read, and anyone who is signed in can write.
From the project to sending
- Open the project KIplatz/mitbauen and sign in.
- Click “Neue Meldung” (new report).
- Pick one of the 3 templates: “Fehler melden” (report a bug), “Idee einbringen” (bring in an idea) or “Frage” (question).
- Write a short title after the given word, for example “Fehler: Morgenbericht kommt ohne Wetter” (bug: morning briefing comes without weather).
- Fill in the fields of the template as precisely as you can.
- Send it.
Careful
Do not write passwords, keys or personal data into it. Take care with screenshots too. A security hole never belongs in the workshop. Send it in confidence to support@kiplatz.at with the subject “Sicherheit” (security). More under Report a security hole.
The fields of the templates
| Template | What it asks |
|---|---|
| Report a bug | “Wo ist es passiert?” (where did it happen: program, website, talking or building along), “Was ist passiert?” (what happened) step by step, “Was hättest du erwartet?” (what did you expect), the build number and your device |
| Bring in an idea | “Wofür?” (what for), “Wie ist es heute?” (how is it today) and “Wie wäre es besser, und wem nützt das?” (how would it be better, and who benefits) |
| Question | only “Deine Frage” (your question), meant for questions about building along |
You find the build number in the program in the menu “Hilfe” (help) under “Über KIplatz” (about KIplatz). For the website, name your browser and whether you were on a phone or a screen.
Tip
A good bug report describes what you clicked and what happened next. For an idea, one sentence about how things are today and one about how it could be better are enough.
From arrival to done
Within a few days an answer arrives, with labels such as “Fehler” (bug), “Idee” (idea) or “Programm” (program). If something is missing, “braucht Angaben” (needs details) is added, and the answer says what is still needed. “in Arbeit” (in progress) means someone is on it.
When it is done, the answer says from which build or from which date it applies. Then the report is closed. If it turns out not to fit, you can reopen it.
Report a bug straight from the program
- Click “Hilfe” (help) in the menu at the top and then “Fehler melden” (report a bug).
- Confirm the question. The last lines of the log go to us, without questions, names and keys.
You do not have to type anything for this. If you want to describe what happened, write a report in the workshop as well.
Questions about using the program and general chat belong in the forum at forum.kiplatz.at. What else you can do to build along is explained under Build along.
