How the AI answers
KIplatz is an AI that answers from sources and shows them. Here you can read where the extracts come from, what the marks after the sentences mean and when the AI looks something up online.
The extracts
The shared knowledge consists of sections with a clear licence and of what members looked up for everyone. For your question, KIplatz finds the matching passages in the shared knowledge and in your own, and the model writes from them.
Your own sources that you mark as private stay with you. After that, the program compares every sentence of the answer with these extracts.
From a source, concluded or from its own knowledge
The text of the answer carries no marks, so it reads easily. Under “Details zur Antwort” (details about the answer) you can see how many sentences belong to each kind.
| The sentence is | That means | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| from a source | It is in the extracts as it stands. This is the rule. | nothing |
| concluded | It follows from supported passages but is not there word for word. | take a second look when it matters |
| from its own knowledge | There was no extract for it. For explanations that is normal. | check numbers, names and years before you rely on them |
Good to know
This is a comparison with the extracts, not a check of the truth.
What else appears under every answer is shown on Your first question.
Prepared and checked by a second device
For many sections, a PC of the community has written a summary with questions and answers beforehand, and a second one has checked it. If one of these questions matches yours, its answer comes first, marked “von einem zweiten Gerät geprüft” (checked by a second device).
Looking things up when needed
If you ask about weather or headlines, the answering PC fetches them for you, and the community remembers the result with an expiry date.
If nobody knows an answer, it searches the internet, reads the page it found and tells you that it did so. If something is in no source, the AI says so and offers to look it up.
If you tick “In meinen Dateien suchen” (search my files), the question goes neither online nor to a stranger's PC. Then only your own PC at home searches, as described under Your files from anywhere.
The models
Writing is done with open models that fit your graphics card, and all of them come from us with a fixed checksum. For images there is an add-on on PCs with a graphics card, and speech recognition runs on your own device.
The window speaks German, English comes next.
Tip
If many sentences come from its own knowledge when you asked about numbers or names, it is worth asking the question differently. How that works is described under Asking well. If something was wrong, Correct an answer helps.
