Create an account and sign in

A single login works for the forum where you talk, the workshop where you build along, and the program. Without an account the community answers 5 questions a day, with an account there is no limit.

Sign in once, be in everywhere

The workshop manages the logins, the forum and the program hook into it. After you sign in, credits and the leaderboard count for you as a person, on every device where you are signed in.

Create it in the workshop

  1. Open Create an account in the workshop.
  2. Fill in the form with name, email address and password. Or click “Anmelden mit Google” (sign in with Google) or “Anmelden mit GitHub” (sign in with GitHub).
  3. Confirm your address with the link in the email we send you.

What is stored is your email address, a check value instead of the password, your display name, a profile picture if you like, and the time of your last sign-in. No other member sees your email address.

Good to know

With Google or GitHub, that provider learns that you are signing in to KIplatz and sends us your email address, name and profile picture. If you do not want that, create the account with your email address.

Sign in to the forum

In the forum at forum.kiplatz.at you sign in with the same details. You do not need a second login.

Sign in to the program

  1. In the left bar, open “Meine Community” (my community).
  2. In the card “Dein KIplatz-Konto” (your KIplatz account), click “Mit KIplatz-Konto anmelden” (sign in with KIplatz account).
  3. Your browser shows the KIplatz sign-in page. Sign in there.
  4. Back in the window it says “Angemeldet als” (signed in as) with your name.

The window never sees your login details, the sign-in only happens in the browser. If no browser opens, the window shows you the address to open.

Careful

The button for signing in only becomes active once your PC belongs to the community. As long as it is grey, the card tells you how your PC joins first.

“Abmelden” (sign out) in the same card detaches your PC again. The credits then stay with the device, and everything goes on as before.

Besides the password, you give a second proof when you sign in. Anyone who only knows your password cannot get in that way. It is optional for members, but we recommend it anyway. You find the setting in the account menu under “Sicherheit und Zwei-Faktor” (security and two-factor).

  1. Click “Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung aktivieren” (activate two-factor authentication).
  2. Scan the picture with an app for one-time codes, on the iPhone for example “Passwörter” (Passwords).
  3. Type in the six digits from the app.

Careful

Keep the recovery key that the workshop shows afterwards. It gets you in if your phone is missing.

It is more convenient with Face ID, a fingerprint or Windows Hello: enter a name, click “Sicherheitsschlüssel hinzufügen” (add security key), confirm. It is best to set up both. The password stays anyway.

Your devices

In the app under “Deine Geräte” (your devices) and in the program under “Dein KIplatz-Konto”, every device where you are signed in is listed. “Abmelden” signs one out, “Auf allen anderen Geräten abmelden” (sign out on all other devices) signs out all except this one. A phone that has not been used for 90 days signs out by itself.

Lost your phone? Sign it out from another device and change your password.

Rules and deleting

By creating an account you accept the terms of use, and the house rules apply everywhere. A login belongs to one person, and you do not pass on your login details. How to delete everything again is described under Leave and remove the program.
