Terms of use

This is an English translation for your convenience. The German version is the binding one. Read the German version

These terms apply to the KIplatz program, to the forum (forum.kiplatz.at) and to the workshop (werkstatt.kiplatz.at). The provider is Philipp Rainer, Oberweis 16, 4664 Laakirchen, Austria (legal notice). By creating an account or starting the program you accept them. Everything is free, and you can stop at any time without giving reasons.

Who may take part

Anyone aged 14 or over may take part. Anyone younger needs the consent of a parent or another person with parental responsibility (§ 4 para. 4 Datenschutzgesetz). An account belongs to one person; you do not pass on your login details. Companies and associations may let the program run on their devices; the terms then apply to them.

KIplatz is an AI, and it is in the beta phase

The answers in the program, on the phone and in the trial question on the start page are written by an AI, not by a person. This is stated under every answer, together with the sources and how many sentences are backed up. Every answer also carries a machine-readable marking as AI text so that other programs can recognize it (Art. 50 of the EU AI Act).

AI answers can be wrong, even when they sound convincing. They are not legal, tax, financial or medical advice and do not replace a professional. You check anything important yourself before acting on it. The program is in the beta phase: something is added every day, some things still stick, and functions may change or be dropped. Under "New in the program" we say what has changed.

Free on your own devices

You receive the right to use KIplatz on your own devices for as long as you like, free of charge and without advertising. You may not sell it, pass it on modified, or use it to harm the community or other members. It works only within the limits you set in the release, and you can pause, stop or remove it at any time. You share computing voluntarily; no claim to anything in return arises from it.

Credits are recognition for work your device has done for others. They have no monetary value, cannot be paid out or transferred, and can be corrected in case of an error or abuse.

Your posts, skills and sources

What you write in the forum, in the workshop, or as local knowledge and corrections in the program remains your work. You give us the right to show it within KIplatz, to store it and to make it accessible to the members; for local knowledge and corrections also to use it as a source in answers. Skills carry the license you state when sharing.

You post only what you wrote yourself or are allowed to use. Third-party texts, images, music and data of other persons do not belong in it. You do not write personal data of third parties (names, addresses, health) into questions, posts or local knowledge. The house rules apply everywhere at KIplatz.

We read reports ourselves, within 7 days

Every post, every answer and every piece of local knowledge can be reported with one click or by email to melden@kiplatz.at. We read every report ourselves, as a rule within 7 days, and reply to the person who reported it. If content violates the house rules or the law, we remove or hide it; in case of repetition or serious cases we block the account or the device. A word filter at KIplatz and in the forum catches the crudest cases before anything enters the shared knowledge; if a device is caught by it twice, it is blocked for the time being and we take a look. A person decides everything else.

If an account is blocked or deleted, the person receives the reasons by email. If only a post is removed, we give the reasons on request. An appeal is possible informally within 6 months to the same address. We then check again, by a different person than the first time if that is possible. Authorities and courts in the EU can reach us via the addresses in the legal notice; we communicate in German and English.

Accessibility is part of it

Website, program and phone page are built according to the rules for accessible technology (EN 301 549, WCAG 2.1 level AA): operable with the keyboard, labeled for screen readers, with sufficient contrast and without forced motion. This applies regardless of whether the accessibility act obliges us to. What has been checked and where limits remain is in the accessibility statement; you report barriers there, and we reply.

Ending your account, deleting data

You delete your account in the account menu under "Delete account"; "Leave the community" on the device immediately deletes what belongs to your device on the server. Your posts stay without your name so that the knowledge is preserved for everyone; you delete individual ones yourself beforehand or on a message to us. What happens to data is described in the privacy policy and in the privacy policy that can be read on the device.

We may block an account or device if it violates these terms or the house rules, causes damage or endangers the safety of others. We may discontinue KIplatz entirely or in part; we announce this at least 30 days in advance, and you can take your data with you beforehand.

Liability

KIplatz is free and in the beta phase. We are liable for damages only in cases of intent and gross negligence, and without limit for personal injury. We are not liable for the content of AI answers, for posts by other members and for external sites that are linked to, as far as the law allows. Mandatory rights of consumers under the Konsumentenschutzgesetz remain unaffected.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, the new date appears here, and the change is announced in the forum and under "New in the program", at least 14 days before it applies. Anyone who does not agree ends their use; anyone who continues after the effective date accepts the new version. For pure improvements in your favor or adjustments required by law, the period can be shorter.

Applicable law and jurisdiction

Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers resident in the EU, the mandatory protection of the country in which they live also applies; for them the place of jurisdiction is the court of their place of residence. For everyone else, the court with subject-matter jurisdiction in Wels is competent. Should a provision be invalid, the remaining ones stay valid.

As of 5 October 2026. A lawyer reviews these terms before the public launch, and the reviewed version will then appear here with a new date.
