Files and images
Have an invoice checked, summarise a long letter, explain an error message: for all of this you put the file into the conversation. It is read on your own PC.
The plus in the input field
- Click the round “+” at the left edge of the input field. A small menu opens upwards.
- Pick the right entry from the table below.
- In the window that opens, choose what should be added.
- A small card now appears next to the input field, for example “Datei: Rechnung.pdf” (file: Rechnung.pdf). Write your question and send it.
| Menu entry | What it takes | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| “Datei anhängen” (attach file) | PDF, Word (.docx), text, also .md, .html and .csv, up to 25 MB | Letters, contracts, invoices |
| “Bild anhängen” (attach image) | PNG or JPG | Photos, notes, screenshots |
| “Ordner freigeben” (share folder) | the documents in a folder | Lots of papers on one topic |
| “Bildschirm aufnehmen” (capture screen) | a picture of your whole screen; the window disappears briefly for this | Error messages, forms |
Tip
The small cross on the card takes the file out of the conversation again.
Pasting and dragging in
You paste a screenshot from the clipboard straight into the window with Ctrl + V. You drag an image from File Explorer into it with the mouse. This works with images (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF); all other documents go in through the “+”.
One folder for one conversation
Sharing a folder applies to this one conversation only. With every question, KIplatz reads the documents in it that fit, at most 3 at a time, and writes under the answer which ones they were. Subfolders stay closed, and a whole drive cannot be shared.
Under an answer, “In den Ordner speichern” (save to the folder) puts it into that folder as a new text file. The program may never delete, overwrite or start anything there.
From attachment to answer
Your PC turns PDF and Word files into text and passes it to the AI together with your question. A scanned PDF without a text layer gives no text. The AI looks at images on a PC with a graphics card; otherwise it answers based on the text of your question.
Good to know
Everything stays with you. If another PC in the community answers for you, it does not receive your files, images or folders. More under Privacy.
A file from your PC at home to your phone
If you are out and need a file that sits on your PC at home, ask for it in the app, for example “Where is my latest invoice?”. Your PC at home searches for it and sends it to your phone encrypted, without a cloud. How to connect phone and PC once is explained under get your files from anywhere.
