Workshop help: sign in, report, build along
The workshop at werkstatt.kiplatz.at is the place for building along. This page explains how you sign in, write a report, bring in an idea and share a skill. You do not need to be a programmer.
One account for everything
You always sign in on the workshop page, no matter whether you clicked Sign in on Talk, on Build or in the program. It works with e-mail address and password or with your Google account.
The same account then works everywhere. Forgot your password? The link is below the sign-in field, the mail arrives within minutes.
Write a report when something is off
In the project KIplatz/mitbauen click "New issue" and pick one of the three templates: bug, idea or question. Write what you did, what happened and what you expected. The build number is in the program under Help, About.
Never put passwords, keys or other people's addresses into a report. Security issues please in confidence to support@kiplatz.at.
Bring in an idea
The "idea" template asks whom it helps and what it would change. Other members answer below, and if it gets built, the decision is recorded in the same thread.
An idea may be small. The best ones come from everyday use, such as a sentence in the window nobody understands.
Share a skill
A skill is a text file with rules KIplatz follows, for example what an invoice under Austrian law looks like. The community's skills live in the folder skills of the project.
You hand in your own as a report with the file attached or as a pull request. After review every member gets it in the program.
What lives in the workshop
Reports, ideas, questions, skills, the guides for builders and the list of sources. All of it is open to read; writing needs an account.
The source code of program and service is not here, it stays with us. Nothing about individual members either.
When a word sounds foreign
The workshop runs on free software many developers know, so its words show up: "issues" are reports here, a "pull request" is a proposed change, a "repository" is a project.
"Explore" lists all projects. You change the language of the interface in your account settings.
